Major A. K. Raveendran SM is a retired Indian Army officer Born on June 13, 1958, former National Security Guard commando, and film director and actor who primarily works in Malayalam cinema with a few Tamil and Hindi productions.
In 1991 and 1992, he received the President’s gallantry medal in recognition of his efforts to combat terrorism in Punjab and Kashmir. He started his career in Indian cinema as a consultant for military-themed films after leaving the army. Keerthi Chakra, his first independent film, earned him the Kerala State Film Award for Best Screenplay in 2006.
Major Ravi was born to A. T. Satyabhama and P. Kuttisankaran Nair, both of whom served in the Indian Army. Anitha is his spouse. Arjun Ravi is the son of the couple.
