M. Prabhakar Reddy

Biography:

Indian character actor and physician M. Prabhakar Reddy (1935–1997) is well known for his contributions to Telugu cinema. In three decades, he appeared in more than 472 movies. He penned the scripts for a number of well-regarded movies, including Karthika Deepam. He is commemorated by the “Dr. M Prabhakara Reddy Chalana Chitra Karmika Chitrapuri” in Manikonda, Hyderabad. Four Nandi Awards went to him.

Lakshma Reddy and Kausalya gave birth to him at Thungathurthy, Hyderabad State (now the Suryapet district of Telangana), India.

He completed his intermediate course at City College in Hyderabad after completing his primary schooling in Suryapet town. Between 1955 through 1960, he attended Osmania Medical College, which was part of Osmania University in Hyderabad. In 1960, Prabhakar Reddy made his acting debut as a psychiatrist in Gutta Ramineedu’s Chivaraku Migiledi. Over the following three decades, he appeared in around 472 films.

For roughly 21 Telugu movies, he contributed stories. Some of them had great success. They are Naaku Swatantram Vacchindi, Karthika Deepam, Gandhi Puttina Desam, Pacchani Samsaram, Pandanti Kapuram, and Gruhapravesam. Comrade, a 1996 movie he wrote and directed, had lyrics by K. G. Satyamurthy and Masterji.

He provided the well-known Telugu actress Jaya Prada, whose real name was Lalitha Rani, her stage name and debuted her in a three-minute song in the 1976 Telugu movie Bhoomi Kosam.

He died in 1997 in Hyderabad due to cardiac arrest
