M. Jeevan is an Indian director, cinematographer and still photographer, who has worked in the Tamil, and Telugu film industries.
Jeevan started his career as a still photographer and worked on high-profile movies including Rajiv Menon’s Kandukondain Kandukondain (2000), Bombay (1994), and Iruvar (1997) by Mani Ratnam, Jeans (1998) by Shankar, and Bombay (1994) by Shankar. To assist him with his responsibilities, he also hired his brother Sukumar. After that, he continued to work as a photographer for movies like King (2002), Samurai (2002), and Minnale (2001) and developed a close bond with the director Prabhu Solomon. Sukumar was requested to make his first excursion into cinematography while releasing Kokki (2006) by director Prabhu Solomon, but due to his resistance, Jeevan was given the chance instead.
When Jeevan’s schedule started to fill up at the conclusion of the filming, Sukumar was hired to work on a few scenes in the movie, including a song shoot in Chalakudi. Since then, the two have also collaborated on the films Mynaa (2010) and Nimirndhu Nil (2014).
Filmmaker Jeevan has also started work on Mayilu (2012) for Prakash Raj’s production company in 2008. Delays caused Pa. Vijay’s Gnabagangal (2009) to be his first release while Mayilu didn’t come out for another three years. Sevanu, a different movie with newcomers Aman and Oviya, was abandoned midway through production. After that, he produced Amara (2014) and Mosakutty (2014), both of which featured leading roles played by newcomers.
