Lisa Brühlmann
Biography:
Lisa Brühlmann, who is Swiss, previously worked as an actress but began her filmmaking career and went on to be an Award winner with her first feature directorial effort Blue My Mind (2017), which played in the new directors’ section at the 2017 San Sebastin International Film Festival and was an Award winner for its adolescent coming of age story. Brühlmann works internationally as a filmmaker and television director and she is one of European cinema’s best-loved contemporary filmmakers thanks to the richly nuanced stories and deeply emotional characters she continues to craft.
Brühlmann made her mark as a television director by taking charge of episode in, amongst other projects, the acclaimed international drama series’ Killing Eve, The Girl Before(the Bbc/hBO 2021)and Servant.
Her Television directing is atmospheric, nuanced, deeply human and suspenseful.
Brühlmann has directed another feature, WHEN WE WERE SISTERS (2024). Celebrated for her visually striking approach, nuanced psychological themes, and powerful stories focused on women, Brühlmann has forged an impressive body of work in both indie film and high-end television and is the recipient of an International Prix at the St. Tropez International Film Festival.
