Laura Allen Fischer
Biography:
Laura is the CEO of Powderkeg, Paul Feig’s digital video company, which supports LGBTQ and female artists as well as filmmakers of color. Driven by the conviction that entertainment ought to be completely inclusive, Sarah and Paul founded Powderkeg with the goal of empowering and exposing previously marginalized voices that are fresh and unique. Additionally, Powderkeg introduced Break the Room with Sameer Gardezi in 2018, with an emphasis on inclusive development with diverse writers.
Laura oversaw production and creative for both scripted and unscripted original programming as Head of Production & Development at Yahoo! Originals before starting Powderkeg. Community: Season 6 (Sony), Other Space (Paul Feig), and Sin City Saints (Mike Tollin) were a few of Yahoo!’s tentpole original projects.
Laura worked at the Disney-ABC Television Group Digital Studio as Senior Manager of Production and Current Programming prior to joining Yahoo! in 2013. Ms. Fischer oversaw the group that created the Oscar Digital Experience, which won an Emmy in 2011. Additionally, she was in charge of the short-form video produced to promote ABC Primetime, ABC Daytime, and ABC Family programs. Laura has served on the executive committee and board of the Producer’s Guild of America and the Television Academy, respectively.
