Biography:

The brothers Jatin and Lalit Pandit are the well-known Indian music director duo known as Jatin–Lalit. For their contributions to Bollywood music in the 1990s and the first part of the 2000s, they are honored. The pair is renowned for their beautiful songs and has contributed to a number of successful motion pictures. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Mohabbatein, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham…, and Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha are a some of their most well-known compositions. Their professional name, Jatin-Lalit, is used on the covers of their CDs, DVDs, and music albums.

Jatin and Lalit are from a musical family that originated in the Haryana state’s Pili Mandori Village in the Hissar area. Their uncle was Pandit Jasraj. It was their father, Pandit Pratap Narayan, who taught them music in the main. Of the Laxmikant–Pyarelal combo, Pyarelal Ramprasad Sharma taught them the piano and guitar. Their sisters are the Hindi film actresses Sulakshana Pandit and Vijayta Pandit; their brother-in-law was the late music director Aadesh Shrivastava, who married Vijayta, the younger of the sisters.

Lalit Pandit began his career in 1991 with Yaara Dildara and has since composed music for over 50 motion pictures. Lalit Pandit wrote the music for a number of popular movies in his early career, including Khamoshi (1996) and Joh Jeeta Wohi Sikander. For Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), he went on to win both his first Zee Cine Award and Star Screen Award.

Following his breakup with his brother and longtime collaborator in 2006, Lalit Pandit debuted as a solo composer with Showbiz in 2007. Dabangg (2010), Besharam (2013), Shorgul (2016), Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi (2017), Hamara Tiranga (2018), and I am Banni (2019) are some of his other noteworthy composition credits. In addition to composing, Lalit made a brief cameo in the film Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander.
