Laila Robins (born March 14, 1959) is an American actress known for her work in film, television, and theater. She has appeared in movies such as Planes, Trains and Automobiles (1987), An Innocent Man (1989), Live Nude Girls (1995), True Crime (1999), She’s Lost Control (2014), Eye in the Sky (2015), and A Call to Spy (2019). On television, she has played major roles in Gabriel’s Fire, Homeland, and Murder in the First, and is known for portraying Pamela Milton in the final season of The Walking Dead (2022) and Colonel Grace Mallory in The Boys (2019–2024) and Gen V (2023).
Born in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Latvian American parents, Robins earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire before obtaining a Master of Fine Arts from the Yale School of Drama. She made her film debut opposite Steve Martin in Planes, Trains and Automobiles and later starred alongside Tom Selleck in An Innocent Man (1989). Her television career includes recurring roles in Law & Order, Law & Order: SVU, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Third Watch, Sex and the City, 30 Rock, and The Good Wife. She also portrayed a younger version of Livia Soprano in The Sopranos.
In 2014, Robins played Martha Boyd, the U.S. ambassador to Pakistan, in Homeland and later joined the cast of Murder in the First (2015). She had recurring roles in Quantico (2016–2017) and The Blacklist (2019–2021), starred in the short-lived ABC drama Deception (2018), and appeared in series like In Treatment, Bored to Death, Mr. Mercedes, and Dr. Death. She gained further recognition as Governor Pamela Milton in The Walking Dead (2022).
Robins has an extensive stage career, performing on Broadway in productions such as The Real Thing (1985), The Herbal Bed (1998), Frozen (2004), and Heartbreak House (2006). Off-Broadway, she has starred in Sore Throats, The Merchant of Venice, and Mrs. Klein, the latter of which she toured with Uta Hagen. She has also performed in regional theater, including A Streetcar Named Desire at Steppenwolf Theatre and Antony and Cleopatra at the Guthrie Theater. A frequent performer at the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, she has starred in Macbeth, Three Sisters, and The Cherry Orchard.
Robins has received multiple accolades, including the Joe A. Callaway Award for The Merchant of Venice (1995), a Drama Desk Award for Sweet and Sad (2012), and Lucille Lortel Award nominations for Frozen (2004) and Sore Throats (2007). She also earned a Joseph Jefferson Award for A Streetcar Named Desire (1997) and a Helen Hayes Award nomination for Mrs. Klein.
In addition to acting, Robins is a guest instructor at HB Studio. Since 2000, she has been in a relationship with actor Robert Cuccioli, with whom she has co-starred in multiple productions, including Macbeth at the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey.
