Kunal Ganjawala, born on April 14, 1972, is a prominent Indian playback singer celebrated for his contributions to Hindi and Kannada cinema, along with singing in several other Indian languages like Marathi, Bengali, and more. His journey into the world of music began through singing jingles, eventually leading him to the limelight of Bollywood and beyond.
His breakthrough in Hindi cinema arrived with the sensational track “Bheege Honth Tere” from the movie “Murder” in 2004, which earned him accolades, notably the Zee Cine Award for Best Playback Singer in 2005. Kunal’s introduction to Kannada cinema was equally impactful with the song “Neene Neene” from the film “Aakash” in 2005, marking his successful foray into South Indian cinema.
Born and raised in Mazagaon, Mumbai, Kunal Ganjawala envisioned careers as a chartered accountant or an actor before gravitating toward singing, a path supported by his parents. His father, a harmonica player, and his sister, a Bharatnatyam exponent, created a musical environment that encouraged Kunal’s passion for singing.
His musical education began at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan under the guidance of Sudhindra Bhaumick. Kunal’s initial singing endeavor was a jingle titled “Doodh Doodh” for an Operation Flood advertisement, composed by Ranjit Barot. This early association with Barot elevated his standing among other music directors.
