Biography:

Kumarimuthu, born on December 20, 1940, and passing away on February 28, 2016, was a renowned Tamil film character actor, comedian, and a member of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) political party. He gained widespread recognition for his distinctive and infectious comical laughter.

Throughout his illustrious career spanning over three decades, Kumarimuthu appeared in a staggering 728 films, predominantly in comedic roles. His trademark laughter became a defining characteristic of his performances. In addition to his contributions to the entertainment industry, he was actively involved in politics as a member of the DMK. However, he also faced controversy when he was expelled from the Nadigar Sangam, an actors’ association, due to allegations of making negative remarks about the organization.

This expulsion stemmed from his inquiries into the intentions behind land leasing and building demolitions. Kumarimuthu passed away at the age of 75, on February 28, 2016, succumbing to age-related ailments.
