Kate del Castillo

Biography:

Kate del Castillo Negrete Trillo, a Mexican-American actress, was born on October 23, 1972. Her name is pronounced in Spanish as “kejd del kas.” Del Castillo rose to fame in 1991 when she played the lead in the Televisa drama Muchachitas at the age of 19. Following that, she pursued a career in Latin American cinema and television, starring in telenovelas such as Alguna vez tendremos alas (1997), La Mentira (1998), Ramona (2000), Bajo la misma piel (2003–04), and La Reina del Sur (2011–2023).

Del Castillo became well-known throughout the world in 2011 after starring in the Telemundo series La Reina del Sur. She later starred as First Lady of Mexico Emilia Urquiza in the Netflix political drama series Ingobernable in 2017. Del Castillo has since starred in the Fox criminal drama series The Cleaning Lady (2024) and the Peacock comedy-drama series “Til Jail Do Us Part” (2022).

The 2007 drama picture Under the Same Moon marked Del Castillo’s Hollywood debut. She went on to play minor parts in K-11 (2011), No Good Deed (2014), The 33 (2015), El Chicano (2019), and Bad Boys for Life (2020).
