Biography:

K. R. Gangadharan, widely known as KRG, was a prominent Indian film producer who left an indelible mark on the world of cinema. Born in 1936 and passing away in 2012, KRG was recognized for his extensive contributions to the film industry. He was responsible for producing over 60 films in both Tamil and Malayalam languages, operating under various banners such as ‘KRG Productions,’ ‘KRG Art Productions,’ ‘KRG Enterprises,’ and ‘KRG Movies International.’ His production ventures brought to life numerous movies that entertained and captivated audiences.

Gangadharan’s impact extended beyond film production; he played a significant role in the industry’s administration. He was the founder of the Tamil Film Producer’s Council and held the position of president at the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce.

His election as the president of the South India Film Chamber was a testament to his influence, as he earned this position unanimously, representing the collective voice of producers, distributors, studio owners, theater proprietors, and members from Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada film domains. KRG’s multifaceted involvement in the cinema world made him a pivotal figure in shaping the South Indian film industry.

On June 19, 2012, at the age of 76, Gangadharan passed away. He had been undergoing medical treatment at a private hospital located in T. Nagar, Chennai, and had shown signs of improvement. Tragically, on the day he was set to be discharged, he unexpectedly collapsed just as he was preparing to leave the hospital premises. Regrettably, he was declared deceased shortly thereafter. He is survived by his wife and daughter.
