Biography:
Jon Voight is an esteemed actor from America who has been in acting industry for over six decades. Jon was born on December 29, 1938, in Yonkers, New York, where he began acting in theatre and television productions. Jon came into limelight after starring in the 1969 film Midnight Cowboy as Joe Buck, the struggling male escort. For his acting in the film, Jon received his first Academy Award nomination and became one of the famous actors during the period of New Hollywood. Some other movies that Jon appeared in include Deliverance (1972), The Champ (1979), Coming Home (1978), Runaway Train (1985), Heat (1995), and Mission: Impossible (1996).
Jon has received Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in Coming Home as a paraplegic Vietnam veteran in 1978, where he won a Golden Globe award too. For Midnight Cowboy, The Champ, and Runaway Train, he has received Academy Award nominations. Some of his latest works include Enemy of the State (1998), Ali (2001), National Treasure (2004), Transformers (2007), and television series Ray Donovan, for which he received a Golden Globe award.
