Joaquin Phoenix is an esteemed American actor and film producer who is best known for his psychological and complex portrayals of characters and ability to accept unusual roles. Joaquin Phoenix was born on October 28, 1974, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He started his career as an actor in his childhood and received his initial fame for such films as To Die For (1995), Gladiator (2000), and Signs (2002). He became a leading dramatic actor because of his performances in The Village (2004), Walk the Line (2005), The Master (2012), Her (2013), and You Were Never Really Here (2017).

His performances are usually distinguished by their psychological depth, physical transformation, and extreme dedication to his characters.Phoenix won the Academy Award for Best Actor in his performance as Arthur Fleck in Joker (2019). Thus, he became the second actor ever who was awarded with an Oscar for his role in a movie based on Batman character after Heath Ledger.
