Biography:

Jim Carrey is a Canadian-American actor, comedian, writer, and producer known for his physical humor, facial acting skills, and ability to perform both comedies and dramas. Carrey was born on January 17, 1962, in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada. Carrey started doing stand-up comedy in his teenage years and then moved to Los Angeles to join the cast of In Living Color, a sketch-comedy series.

In 1994, Carrey made a breakthrough with his movie Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, followed by The Mask and Dumb and Dumber in the same year to become one of the most famous comedy stars of Hollywood. Carrey was also successful with his other movies including Liar Liar (1997), Bruce Almighty (2003), How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000), and Yes Man (2008).In addition to comedies, Carrey proved to be very effective at playing dramas, especially in movies like The Truman Show (1998) and Man on the Moon (1999) and received Golden Globes Award for the Best Actor for both movies. Other Carrey’s significant dramatic roles include Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004), The Majestic (2001), and psychological thriller The Number 23 (2007).

Carrey also played Dr. Robotnik in the Sonic the Hedgehog movies and introduced a whole new generation of people to his special kind of comedy. Due to his versatile acting career in film and TV as well as voice-overs, Carrey is considered one of the most influential comic actors of the 1990s and one of the few actors who enjoyed success in both comedy and serious drama.
