American producer of movies and television shows, Jerome Leonard Bruckheimer was born on September 21, 1943. Action, drama, comedy, fantasy, horror, and science fiction are among the genres in which he has been active. After graduating from college and working in advertising, Bruckheimer transitioned into filmmaking in the 1970s. He collaborated with fellow producer Don Simpson in the 1980s and 1990s. Until Simpson’s passing in 1996, Bruckheimer and Simpson remained partners. Flashdance, Days of Thunder, The Rock, Crimson Tide, Dangerous Minds, Con Air, Armageddon, Enemy of the State, Pearl Harbor, Black Hawk Down, and the Beverly Hills Cop, Top Gun, Bad Boys, Pirates of the Caribbean, and National Treasure franchises are just a few of the movies that Bruckheimer has created.
At the head of his own production company, he has produced movies that have been distributed by and produced in collaboration with a number of film studios, including Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures, and Disney. Warner Bros. Television and CBS Studios have co-produced his television shows. Variety recognized Bruckheimer in July 2003 as the first producer in Hollywood history to produce Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl and Bad Boys II, the first and second highest-grossing films of a single weekend. He received his first nomination for Best Picture at the 95th Academy Awards in 2023 for Top Gun: Maverick.
