Actress and dancer Jayshree Talpade is from India. She primarily performs in television and Hindi film productions. Talpade started working for Goonj Uthi Shehnai. She became well-known as a Kathak exponent when she began to do item dances in movies.
Nevertheless, she had already established herself in the business as a young performer in Pyar Ki Pyaas (1961), Zameen Ke Taare (1960), and Sangeet Samrat Tansen (1961). When the Beatles visited the studios, she was there with Ravi Shankar.
Despite having Karnataki as her last name when she married, she took on the name “Jayshree T” based on her original Talpade surname. She chose the moniker to set herself apart from other actors such as Rajshree
She claimed that Gopi Kishan was the one who saw her dancing in a movie. She originally intended to become a doctor, but in 1968, choreographer Harmendar suggested her to film director Amit Bose, who put her in a dance scene for Abhilasha. Following that, she performed in over 500 films during the 1970s and 1980s.
She has played sympathetic and vampire-comedic characters. Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Marwadi, Rajastani, English, Sindhi, Assamese, Bhojpuri, Oriya, Haryani, Garyali, Nepali, Punjabi, Marathi, and Gujarati are just a few of the Indian languages in which Jayshree has acted.
She has shared the stage alongside Asha Bhosle, Mukesh, Manna Dey, and Muhammad Rafi. She has won six lions club awards from Delhi and Mumbai, three Gujarat state government awards, Hyderabad Award, and two Maharashtra State Government awards for Marathi films in which she starred as the main lady.
She was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award for her work in Gujarati and Bhojpuri cinema. In a 2012 interview, Jayshree cited an incident that happened in a distant area of Gwalior while filming a song “We were shooting at a remote spot in Gwalior, for Kasam Bhavani Ki (1981), in which Yogeeta Bali played the female lead.
” I saw a number of police officers at the shooting scene. “But why?” I asked some of the officers who approached me, telling me it was best that I didn’t shoot and went back to Bombay. I let out a cry. They said, “Madame, we have heard that the dacoits in this area are preparing to kidnap you.”
They seem to be completely enamored with you. I was startled! I was the target of these attractive girls, Yogeeta and Nazneen, who were around.” Film City was then used to film the song. The song was called “Meri Lal Gulabi Choli” (Kasam Bhawani Ki).
In 1989, Jayshree entered into matrimony with film director Jayprakash Karnataki, who was the brother of actress Nanda and the son of actor and filmmaker Master Vinayak. In 1991, she gave birth to a boy named Swastik J. Karnataki. Actress and dancer Meena T. is her sister. The actor Shreyas Talpade is her nephew.
