Irrfan Khan’s acting career began on the stage, where he honed his craft before transitioning to television.

He made his debut in the critically acclaimed television series “Chanakya” in the late 1980s, gaining recognition for his powerful acting even at an early stage of his career. In 1988, he made his foray into the film industry with the film “Salaam Bombay!” directed by Mira Nair. Although he had a small role, it marked the beginning of a remarkable cinematic journey.

However, it was his breakthrough performance in “Haasil” (2003) that brought him widespread recognition in Bollywood. His portrayal of the complex character Ranvijay Singh received critical acclaim and established him as a formidable actor. Irrfan Khan was celebrated for his ability to seamlessly transition between Bollywood and international cinema.

His work in films like “The Namesake” (2006), “Slumdog Millionaire” (2008), and “Life of Pi” (2012) garnered him international fame and accolades. His roles in movies such as “Maqbool” (2003), “Piku” (2015), and “Hindi Medium” (2017) showcased his acting range and garnered numerous awards, including several National Film Awards.

Despite facing health challenges, Irrfan Khan continued to act and inspire audiences with his talent and determination. His portrayal of a terminally ill character in “The Lunchbox” (2013) was particularly poignant and resonated with viewers worldwide. Irrfan Khan’s contribution to Indian cinema extended beyond acting; he was also known for his thought-provoking and candid interviews, offering insights into the world of cinema and life in general.
