Biography:

Actor Iain Alan Sutherland Glen was born in Scotland on June 24, 1961. He has portrayed Jorah Mormont in the HBO fantasy television series Game of Thrones (2011–2019) and Dr. Alexander Isaacs/Tyrant in three Resident Evil films (2004–2016). Other noteworthy parts in movies and television shows include Larry Winters in Silent Scream (1990), for which he received the Berlin International Film Festival’s Silver Bear for Best Actor, and John Hanning Speke in Mountains of the Moon (1990). Bruce Wayne in Titans (2019–2021), Magnus MacMillan in The Rig (2023–present), Sir Richard Carlisle in Downton Abbey (2011), James Willett in Eye in the Sky (2015), Manfred Powell in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001), Brother John in Song for a Raggy Boy (2003), the title role in Jack Taylor (2010–2016), and Dr. Pete Nichols in Silo (2023–2025).

Glen is a skilled stage actor who has performed in a variety of theater productions, notably as the lead in Shakespeare’s Hamlet, Macbeth, and Henry V. For his roles as John Proctor in the 2006 West End revival of The Crucible, the West End production of The Blue Room, and the original production of the musical Martin Guerre, he was nominated for three Laurence Olivier Awards.
