Guneet Monga is a distinguished Indian film producer, known for her work on the 2023 Academy Award-winning documentary short, The Elephant Whisperers. She is the founder of Sikhya Entertainment, a boutique film production company that has produced critically acclaimed films such as Gangs of Wasseypur (Part 1 and 2), Peddlers, The Lunchbox, Masaan, Zubaan, and Pagglait.
In 2018, Monga became one of the first Indian producers to be inducted into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. She also served as an executive producer for Period. End of Sentence., which won the 2019 Academy Award for Best Documentary Short Film. Her contributions to the global entertainment industry earned her recognition as one of the top 12 women achievers by The Hollywood Reporter and one of the top 50 Indians changing India by India Today. In 2023, she won her second Academy Award for the Netflix documentary short, The Elephant Whisperers.
Monga was honored with the Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Government in 2021 for her significant contributions to the arts. Born on November 21, 1983, in Delhi, she completed her primary education at Bluebells School International and later graduated with a degree in mass communications from Madhubala Institute of Mass Communication and Electronic Media, affiliated with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi, in 2004.
