Gregory Scott Shapiro is a Dutch American comedian who was born in 1968. He is most known for being a part of the comedy group Boom Chicago, hosting the Dutch satirical news show Comedy Central News (nl), and writing books like How to Be Dutch: the Quiz and How to Be Orange: An Alternative Dutch Assimilation Course.
Shapiro received his theater degree from Northwestern University and was born in Chicago, Illinois. He traveled to the Netherlands in 1994 to assist in the founding of the comedy theater Boom Chicago, where he collaborated with a number of artists, including Seth Meyers, Jordan Peele, Ike Barinholtz, Kay Cannon, Heather Anne Campbell, and Allison Silverman. Prior to YouTube, he provided the voiceover for the FloridaVotingMachine video that went popular in 2004. Shapiro launched his own video website, Highly Dubious News, and anchored Comedy Central News on Comedy Central in 2007. In 2008, BNR Newsradio carried his radio column, The New and Improved America. In 2008, his blog, “War for the White House,” was featured on Volkskrant.nl.
