Biography:
Gary Cooper is a well-known actor from America who was the prominent film star of classical Hollywood cinema. He was born on May 7, 1901, in Helena, Montana and started his career as a commercial artist. Later on, he moved into the field of film making as an actor and became famous for his subtle style of performance, natural acting and depiction of heroic figures with strong and principled personality. His films include The Virginian (1929), Mr. Deeds Goes to Town (1936), Meet John Doe (1941), Sergeant York (1941), High Noon (1952), Friendly Persuasion (1956).
He got nominated for five times Oscar Award for the category Best Actor and also won this award two times for Sergeant York and High Noon. Cooper was awarded Honorary Academy Award in the year 1961 for his contribution in the film industry. Gary Cooper has become the prominent figure of Western stars through his role in the movie High Noon. He made films till the early 1960s as The Naked Edge (1961) was his last movie. He died in Los Angeles, California on May 13, 1961.
