G. R. Indugopan is an Indian writer of Malayalam literature, director, and screenwriter. Known as one of Malayalam’s post-modern authors. In addition to being the director of the 2007 Malayalam film Ottakkayyan, Indugopan is the author of a number of publications, including travelogues, collections of short stories, novels, and memoirs. On April 19, 1974, Indugopan was born to Gopinatha Pillai and Sadhayamma in Valathungal, in the Kollam district of Kerala, a state in southern India.
The first technology fiction in Malayalam is said to be Indugopan’s nanotechnology-based book Ice-1960C, which was released by DC Books. His other works include an anthology of short stories called Iruttu Pathradhipar and two novel editions, Cheenkanni Vettakkarante Athmakathayum Muthala Layaniyum and Manaljeevikal, which deals with the mineral sand mining sites in Kollam Chavara area. He has won various honours, including the Ashan Prize, the Kumkumam Award, and the Abu Dhabi Sakthi Award (2017) for the story Kollappatti Daya.
