Biography:
Frank Darabont is an acclaimed filmmaker known for creating emotionally compelling films that explore hope, justice, human suffering and resilience. Born in Montbéliard, France, on 28 January 1959, he was raised by Hungarian parents who had fled their homeland following the 1956 Hungarian Revolution. His family eventually settled in the United States, where he attended Hollywood High School and developed a strong interest in cinema.
Darabont entered the film industry in the early 1980s, initially working as a production assistant and set dresser. He gradually established himself as a screenwriter, contributing to horror films such as A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors and The Blob. His major breakthrough came with The Shawshank Redemption, a drama adapted from a Stephen King novella. Although it was not an immediate box-office success, it later became one of the most celebrated films in cinema history.
