Biography:

British actress Emily Olivia Laura Blunt was born on February 23, 1983. Forbes named her one of the highest-paid actresses in the world in 2020. She has received numerous honors, including two Screen Actors Guild Awards, a Golden Globe Award, and nominations for four British Academy Film Awards and an Academy Award.

Blunt played Catherine Howard in the BBC miniseries Henry VIII (2003) and made her acting debut in a stage version of The Royal Family in 2001. My Summer of Love (2004), a drama, was her first feature film. With her leading parts in the comedy The Devil Wears Prada and the television movie Gideon’s Daughter, Blunt made her debut in 2006. She received a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress for the former. Leading parts in The Young Victoria (2009), Salmon Fishing in Yemen (2011), The Adjustment Bureau (2011), Looper (2012), Edge of Tomorrow (2014), and Into the Woods (2014) further enhanced her reputation.

Blunt won a SAG Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as a survivalist mother in her husband John Krasinski’s horror film A Quiet Place (2018), an alcoholic in the thriller The Girl on the Train (2016), and an idealistic FBI agent in the crime movie Sicario (2015). Since then, she has starred in the miniseries The English (2022), the sequels Mary Poppins Returns (2018) and A Quiet Place Part II (2021). She received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance as Katherine Oppenheimer in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer (2023).

Since 2006, Blunt has collaborated with the American Institute for Stuttering to provide instructional materials to help kids overcome stuttering and to increase public understanding of the condition’s realities. She is a member of the institute’s board of directors and organizes a gala to support scholarships for adults and children in speech therapy.
