Dinesh Panicker is an Indian film and television producer, actor, and the general secretary of the Association of Television Media Artistes (ATMA). He made his debut in the film industry in 1989 by co-producing the critically acclaimed and commercially successful film Kireedam, starring Mohanlal and directed by Sibi Malayil. The film was made on a budget of ₹23 lakh and became a major hit. Initially, Panicker considered acting in a small role in Kireedam but decided against it due to his wife’s opposition. He later remarked that he avoided acting in the films he produced.
His second production was the comedy-drama Cheppukilukkana Changathi, featuring Mukesh and Jagadish. In 1995, he produced Boxer, with Babu Antony as the lead action hero, followed by the 1996 family drama Kaliveedu. That same year, he produced Rajaputhran, an action-drama marking Shajoon Kariyal’s directorial debut, which was released in both Tamil and Telugu. In 1998, he produced the mystery-thriller Mayilpeelikkavu.
Panicker collaborated again with Sibi Malayil for the romance film Pranayavarnangal, starring Suresh Gopi, Manju Warrier, Divya Unni, and Biju Menon. In 1999, he produced the political crime thriller Stalin Sivadas, starring Mammootty. He introduced a unique concept to Malayalam cinema by casting TV presenter Koottickal Jayachandran in the lead role of Chirikkudukka.
Later, Panicker shifted his focus to acting in Malayalam films and television serials, further establishing himself in the entertainment industry.
