Dinesh Hingoo, originally named Dinesh Hingorani, is an eminent Indian actor renowned for his versatile portrayal of comic and supporting characters in Hindi cinema. Born on April 13, 1940, in Baroda, British India (now Vadodara, Gujarat, India), Hingoo’s career spans nearly five decades, during which he graced the screens in over 300 films, showcasing his comedic talent and distinctive impersonations.

His journey in the entertainment industry began with appearances in films like “Taqdeer” (1967) and continued through to modern hits like “Be Careful” (2011). Hingoo’s infectious laughter and ability to embody various characters, including that of a Parsi businessman, have endeared him to audiences nationwide.

Beyond his film roles, Hingoo made significant contributions as a stand-up comedian in numerous orchestras. Notably, renowned comedian Johny Lever credited Hingoo for providing him with a breakthrough opportunity to perform on stage as a comedian.

Throughout his illustrious career, Hingoo played supporting roles and bit parts in a plethora of iconic films, including “Qurbani,” “Saajan,” “Baazigar,” “Hera Pheri,” “Phir Hera Pheri,” and “Anubhav,” among others. His versatility allowed him to seamlessly transition between roles as a fatherly figure, uncle, police officer, and more.

In addition to his film endeavors, Hingoo showcased his acting prowess in television serials aired on the Indian public broadcaster, Doordarshan. His portrayal of Chaman Jhinga in the comedy classic “Hera Pheri” remains etched in the memories of audiences, solidifying his status as a beloved figure in Indian cinema.

Despite retiring from active roles in 2015, Dinesh Hingoo’s contributions to the entertainment industry continue to be cherished, with his memorable performances leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of audiences and aspiring actors alike.
