Based in Mumbai, India, Dhruv Ghanekar is a musician, composer, songwriter, producer, and guitarist who was born on April 30, 1974. Richard Bona, Raul Midon, Trilok Gurtu, Ustad Zakir Hussain, Bernard Purdee, A.R. Rahman, Bob Belden, Scott Kinsey, Etienne M’Bappe, Dominic Dipiazza, Louis Banks, and Ranjit Barot are among the artists with whom Ghanekar has recorded and/or played as well as other modern musicians from over the world. Voyage, his second album, blends Indian and African elements.
Ghanekar appeared as a composer in Season 4 of the popular television program Coke Studio in 2015. One of the original founders of the renowned venue and music label blueFrog, which launched India’s indie music revolution, is Dhruv.
He was hired by the Indian government in 2019 to compose the music for Gandhi Yatra, a 35-minute musical on Mahatma Gandhi’s life in Ahmedabad, India. The show is the biggest 3D-mapped installation display in the world.
In the summer of 2021, Ghanekar’s soundtrack for the British photographer Jimmy Nelson’s show Blink was shown at the Atelier des Lumières in Paris.
