DeVon Franklin

Biography:

DeVon Franklin is an American producer, actor, writer, and television personality who was born on April 13, 1978. The films Miracles from Heaven and Heaven Is for Real, as well as the New York Times Best Seller novel The Wait, which he co-wrote with his then-wife Meagan Good, are his most well-known works. The son of Donald Ray Franklin and Paulette Franklin, Franklin grew up in Oakland, California. David Brandon and Donald Ray are Franklin’s two brothers. After their eventual divorce, Paulette and her three young boys moved live with her parents. Franklin’s father passed away at the age of 36 from a heart attack a few years later. Franklin has described his mother, grandmother, and her seven sisters as a “coalition” of powerful women who led him and his siblings while their father was away.

Franklin described his upbringing in a Mother’s Day article from 2016: “My mother wanted to give us something more than that, but she did make sure we had strong males in our life, like my grandfather and my pastor (who was also my uncle).” In response, my mother organized a coalition of women—the same ladies she grew up with. They were always an essential part of her life, and once my father passed away, they inevitably became an even more important part of ours.
