Deepti Naval is an Indian-American actress, director, and writer renowned for her work in Hindi cinema. She has garnered acclaim for her nuanced portrayals of women, reflecting their evolving roles in Indian society.
Naval made her film debut in 1978 with Shyam Benegal’s Junoon and became a significant figure in Parallel cinema during the 1980s with performances in films like Kamla (1984) and Ankahee (1985). Apart from Hindi cinema, she has acted in films in Punjabi, Kannada, and Bengali, and has appeared in TV serials and telefilms. Naval made her theater debut in 2015 with the play Ek Mulaqaat, portraying the esteemed writer Amrita Pritam. She also featured in the 2019 Amazon Prime series Made in Heaven.
