Danny Trejo

Biography:

Danny Trejo is an American actor who was born on May 16, 1944. He plays character actors in his body of work. His appearances in movies have brought in more over $3.7 billion worldwide.

Los Angeles native Trejo’s film career started in 1985 when he was cast in the movie Runaway Train. He first received credit for his performance as Art Sanella in Death Wish 4: The Crackdown (1987). He then starred in numerous additional movies, many of which had minor roles as gangsters, prisoners, or other criminals. He made appearances in Desperado and Heat (1995), From Dusk till Dawn (1996), Con Air (1997), The Replacement Killers (1998), and Reindeer Games (2000).

Trejo played Isador “Machete” Cortez in the Robert Rodriguez-directed Spy Kids series from 2001 to 2003. In 2010, Trejo played Machete again as the main character in the exploitation action spin-off Machete. Following the success of Machete (2010), Trejo returned to the role in Machete Kills (2013), a direct sequel.

Storks (2016), Minions: The Rise of Gru (2022), and Zootopia 2 (2025) are among the films he has voiced. He voices himself in video games such as Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (2002), Fallout New Vegas (2010), and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth (2024).
