Biography:

Damian Mavis, a Hollywood stuntman and actor based in Canada, gained international recognition for his role as Bradley Cooper’s stunt double in the movie ‘The Hangover 2′ and as Tommy Lee Jones’ bodyguard in ‘Mechanic Resurrection.’ He has also appeared in several US TV series. Mavis has become a sought-after stunt director in Telugu and Hindi films, collaborating with directors like Puri Jagannadh, Jayant Paranji, Sukumar, Veerabhadram, and Sreenu Vaitla.

His memorable boxing stunt in Ali Abbas Zafar’s ‘Sultan,’ where he stood in for Salman Khan’s wrestler character, remains a standout moment. Despite growing up in Ottawa, a city lacking a film culture, Mavis nurtured a secret desire to become a film star.

He was a devoted movie enthusiast but struggled to find a way into the industry due to the absence of studios in his city. This changed when he joined a Muay Thai Academy and traveled to Thailand, where he drew inspiration from the movie ‘Ong-Bak’ and its star Tony Jaa. This experience prompted him to pursue his dream of performing martial arts on screen.

Mavis embarked on a journey that led him to work as a stunt double, stunt director, and actor in TV series. His involvement extended to notable Telugu films such as ‘Teen Maar’ starring Pawan Kalyan, ‘Baadshah’ featuring Junior NTR, ‘Bhai’ with Nagarjuna, and ‘Iddarammayilatho’ starring Allu Arjun.

In 2014, he served as a stunt master for Hrithik Roshan’s film ‘Bang Bang,’ directed by Siddharth Anand. He also played the role of a stunt coordinator in Salman Khan’s movie ‘Sultan.’ Mavis demonstrated his skills in the TV series ‘Van Helsing,’ centered around vampires, and engaged in an independent feature film project called ‘The Beginning of the End.’

His contributions as a stunt performer encompassed eight episodes of ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ and a single episode of ‘The Flash.’ Mavis’ work sheds light on the vital role of stunt doubles and coordinators, particularly evident in films like ‘Sultan’ and ‘Dangal,’ where they play a significant behind-the-scenes hero.
