Christian Convery

Biography:

Christian Convery (born November 10, 2009) is a Canadian-American teenage actor, widely recognized for his lead role as Gus in the Netflix series Sweet Tooth (2021–2024). He has also appeared in films like Cocaine Bear (2023) and The Monkey (2025). His performance in the final season of Sweet Tooth earned him an Emmy nomination, and he additionally portrayed a young Victor Frankenstein in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein.

He was born in Los Angeles, California, and holds dual citizenship in both Canada and the United States.

Convery began acting at the age of six in 2016, debuting as Conner in the romantic comedy Hearts of Spring. That same year, he appeared in TV series such as Supernatural and Van Helsing, followed by roles in Legion and Lucifer in 2017. Also in 2016, he landed his first leading role in the Hallmark television film My Christmas Dream, playing Cooper Stone alongside Danica McKellar and David Haydn-Jones.

In 2018, he portrayed Jasper Sheff in the drama Beautiful Boy, starring Timothée Chalamet and Steve Carell. The following year, he appeared in the TV film Descendants 3 and won a Young Artist Award in the Streaming Series or Film category. He also acted in Playing with Fire, sharing the screen with John Cena, John Leguizamo, Judy Greer, and Keegan-Michael Key as the character Will.

From 2019 to 2020, he played the lead role of Morgan in the Disney Channel series Pup Academy, which earned him the Best Lead Actor award at the 2020 Young Artist Awards.

In 2021, Convery achieved major recognition with his breakout role as Gus, a deer-human hybrid, in Sweet Tooth, a Netflix post-apocalyptic fantasy series based on Jeff Lemire’s comic. The show ran for multiple seasons and featured co-stars such as Will Forte and Nonso Anozie.

He later portrayed Rob Horton in The Tiger Rising, an adaptation of Kate DiCamillo’s novel, alongside Dennis Quaid and Queen Latifah. In 2023, he appeared in the comedy-horror film Cocaine Bear, and in 2025, he starred opposite Theo James in The Monkey, a Stephen King adaptation directed by Oz Perkins. He also appears in Guillermo del Toro’s Netflix film Frankenstein.

Looking ahead, Convery is set to appear alongside Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor in The End of Oak Street, scheduled for release in August 2026. Additionally, in January 2025, it was announced that he will star in the comedy Rolling Loud, directed by Jeremy Garelick and co-starring Owen Wilson and Matt Riffe, with a planned release in September 2026.
