Carol Christine Hilaria Pounder is a Caribbean actress who was born on December 25, 1952. Claudette Wyms in the FX police drama series The Shield (2002–2008), Mo’at in the Avatar (2009–present) franchise, and Dr. Loretta Wade, the medical examiner in NCIS: New Orleans (2014–2021) are her most well-known roles. She has been nominated for four Primetime Emmy Awards for her work in The Shield, ER (1994–1997), The X-Files (1994), and The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency (2009).
Pounder played recurrent characters on television, including District Attorney Tyne Patterson in Sons of Anarchy (2013–2014) and Irene Frederic in Warehouse 13 (2009–2014). Additionally, Pounder voiced Amanda Waller in the 2004–2006 animated series Justice League Unlimited. She has since returned to this role in a number other DC Comics media.
