American actress Cara Buono was born on March 1, 1971. Her career began in the late 1980s and early 1990s, when she made her film debut in Gladiator (1992). After appearing in several Law & Order episodes (1996–2024), she was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Performer in Children’s Programming for a 1991 CBS Schoolbreak Special. Her portrayal of Dr. Faye Miller in the AMC period drama series Mad Men (2010) earned her a nomination for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series. Later in her career, she gained more attention for her portrayal of Karen Wheeler in the Netflix science fiction horror series Stranger Things (2016–present).
Since making her film debut in 1992, Buono has acted in several films. Her most well-known roles include Edith Banner in Hulk (2003), Let Me In (2010), A Good Marriage (2014), Paper Towns (2015), All Saints (2017), Monsters and Men (2018), and She Came from the Woods (2022).
