Brittany Allen (born February 5, 1986) is a Canadian actress known for her work in television and film. She gained recognition for portraying Marissa Chandler on All My Children from 2009 to 2010, a role that earned her a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actress in 2011. Over the years, she built a steady career in television and frequently collaborated with her partner, director Colin Minihan, starring in his films Extraterrestrial (2014), It Stains the Sands Red (2016), and What Keeps You Alive (2018), the last of which she also composed the score for.
Allen studied at Etobicoke School of the Arts in Toronto and later attended Sheridan Institute for Technology and Advanced Learning in Oakville, where she pursued Music Theatre – Performance.
Following minor roles in TV movies, she secured her breakthrough role as Marissa Chandler on All My Children in 2009, staying with the show until 2010. She later appeared in various television series, including recurring roles in the Canadian drama Bomb Girls and Syfy’s science fiction western Defiance.
Her film career took off in 2014 with Extraterrestrial, a sci-fi horror film directed by Colin Minihan. In 2015, she starred in the psychological thriller Backgammon and contributed to the script of the independent dramedy Almost Anything.
In 2016, she collaborated with Minihan again, starring in and serving as executive producer for It Stains the Sands Red, an unconventional zombie thriller. She continued her sci-fi and horror ventures with lead roles in Incontrol (2017) and Jigsaw (2017), the latter being a sequel in the Saw franchise.
In 2018, she joined the USA Network series Falling Water, taking over the role of Sabine for its second season, and played Ella Riordan in NBC’s Taken. That same year, she co-starred in the psychological thriller What Keeps You Alive alongside Hannah Emily Anderson, also contributing as a producer and composer.
In 2019, she appeared as Margaret St. James in the horror film The Prodigy and played Charlotte/Popclaw in Amazon’s dark superhero series The Boys.
Allen began dating Colin Minihan in 2014 after meeting on the set of Extraterrestrial, which he directed and she starred in.
