English musician, composer, audio engineer, and record producer Atticus Matthew Cowper Ross was born on January 16, 1968. His most well-known collaborations are with American artist Trent Reznor, with whom he initially collaborated on the musical project Tapeworm in 2002. In 2005, he started working as a producer and programmer for Reznor’s band Nine Inch Nails. Later, he joined the band as a musician, and in 2016, he was the only formal member in addition to Reznor.
Ross and Reznor have gained recognition for their work on movie soundtracks outside of Nine Inch Nails. In addition to winning the Golden Globe and Academy Award for Soul (with Jon Batiste) in 2021, they also won the Grammy Award for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo in 2013 and the Academy Award for Best Original Score for The Social Network in 2010. Ross and Reznor took home the Golden Globe for Challengers in 2025.
Atticus The son of Radio Caroline co-founder Ian Cowper Ross and Roxana Rose Catherine Naila, Matthew Cowper Ross was born on January 16, 1968, in the Ladbroke Grove neighborhood of London. The grandson of fur merchant Curtis Lampson (1806–1885), his maternal grandfather was diplomat Miles Lampson, 1st Baron Killearn (1880–1964). He has five siblings, including fashion model Liberty Ross and fellow musician Leopold Ross. His uncle is English-American journalist Charles Glass, and his great-grandfather was Italian pathologist and bacteriologist Aldo Castellani (1874–1971). Prior to attending the Courtauld Institute of Art, Ross had his education at Eton College.
