Born in New Delhi, India, to a mother who taught English and a father who worked as a banker, Ashwini Koul began his acting career at the age of 17. His early years were characterized by a prosperous period on Indian television, where he made a name for himself and amassed a sizable following.

Ashwini had useful experience working behind the scenes in the film industry prior to being well-known as an actor. He worked as an assistant and intern on a number of well-known movies, such as Pyaar Ka Punchnama, Kill Dil, Daawat-e-Ishq, Airlift, and The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir.
