Biography:

Amitraj Sawant is a singer, songwriter, and director of Marathi music from Mumbai. His career in the Marathi cinema business took off after Duniyadari. He received the 2014 International Marathi Film Festival Award for the film 72 Miles: Ek Pravas in all three music categories.

He started off as a composer’s assistant to Monty Sharma, who is well-known for his work on films like Black, Saawariya, and Devdas. He worked with Sharma for more than eight years, during which time he was exposed to the magnificent cinematic style and musical knowledge of Sanjay Leela Bhansali. He made the decision to pursue solo work after this time.

He started writing title tracks and background soundtracks for television serials in 2011, and he has contributed to more than five dramas with over 200 episodes. He said the employment was less creatively gratifying even though it gave him financial stability. He made contact with director Rajiv Patil during this period, and Patil gave him the chance to work on the movie 72 Miles: Ek Pravas.

When director Sanjay Jadhav asked him to write a depressing song for a movie, his career took a dramatic shift. Amitraj gained considerable notoriety in Marathi cinema because to the song “Deva Tujhya Gabharyala” from the film Duniyadari. Since it made his music more widely known, Amitraj views this song as a turning point in his career.

Since then, he has written music for a number of Marathi films, such as the recently popular Jhimma and Jhimma 2, Classmates, Mitwaa, Dagadi Chawl, Poshter Girl, Baghtos Kay Mujra Kar, Laal Ishq, Farzand, and Hirkani. Amitraj plans to broaden his horizons by writing music for future Hindi films and television shows.
