Indian actor, director, writer, and screenwriter Amitoj Mann is well-known for his contributions to Hindi and Punjabi cinema. He produced three films: Sucha Soorma, which was focused on the aftermath of the assassination of Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Hawayein, which was based on the idea of illegal immigration, and Kaafila.Mann’s Kaafila, which was prohibited in Pakistan because of its alleged anti-Pakistan content, was less successful than Hawayein, which was favourably accepted.
His father, Babu Singh Mann, has a background in both literature and film. He is a poet and lyricist from Punjab, has produced several Punjabi films, and has won five lifetime achievement awards in addition to numerous other honours. Amitoj obtained experience performing in several stage plays while working with Nadira Babbar’s theatre group “EKJUT.” This helped him develop into an actor and hone his creative skills as a director and writer.
Amitoj was cast as the lead in Dilip Kumar’s 1992 film Kalinga, which he directed alongside Meenakshi Seshadri. However, unanticipated events prevented the movie from being released. Amitoj shifted his focus from acting out dreams to making them on the big screen.
