Alejandro Martínez

Biography:

Alejandro Martínez was born in Bogotá, Colombia, on December 22, 1966 is a musician and actor from Colombia. He had always had an interest in acting and singing as a child, and at the age of twelve, he enrolled in the National University’s Conservatory to learn how to play a variety of instruments. Prior to beginning his solo career, he had already begun acting and singing while in college, founding a group called Café Stress. He graduated from university in 1985 with a degree in social communications with a focus on television production.

A lead part in the 1993 Colombian telenovela La maldríguez del paraiso was Martínez’s acting breakthrough. He was nominated for Best Actor in both the TVyNovelas Awards Colombia and the Símon Bolívar Television Awards, winning the former. For Eternamente Manuela (1996), Pobre Pablo (2001), and Escobar: El patron de mal (2013), he received three additional TVyNovelas Award nominations.

In 2008, Martínez also temporarily became well-known in Hungary after making an appearance on a reality TV program that followed his then-girlfriend, former Playboy model Hargetai Bea. Back home in Colombia, the show was condemned for exclusively highlighting the worst parts of Bogotá and the country.
