Albert Finney

Biography:

Albert Finney was an outstanding English actor who had been famous due to his versatile performance on the screen as well as in theatre and on TV. Born on May 9, 1936, in Salford, Lancashire, England, Albert Finney graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and became one of the most notable actors related to the British New Wave that flourished in the 1960s. After his appearance in the film Saturday Night and Sunday Morning (1960), where he played the role of rebellious Arthur Seaton, Finney starred in the award-winning films like Tom Jones (1963), Night Must Fall (1964), and Two for the Road (1967).

Finney has received five Oscar nominations in total, namely four for the Best Actor Award for Tom Jones, Murder on the Orient Express (1974), The Dresser (1983), and Under the Volcano (1984) and once for the Best Supporting Actor in Erin Brockovich (2000). Although he did not win in competition, he has received many other awards for his performance. His other films include Miller’s Crossing (1990), The Browning Version (1994), Big Fish (2003), The Bourne Ultimatum (2007), Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead (2007), and Skyfall (2012). Finney has retired from the business but occasionally appears on the screen. He died on February 7, 2019, in London, aged 82.
