Biography:
Ajitpal Singh is a filmmaker from India whose work is characterized by socially conscious storytelling through emotionally charged films and digital entertainment. An independent and self-made filmmaker, Singh started out as a scriptwriter but later made a mark with the release of his award-winning short film Rammat-Gammat in 2018. His directorial feature film debut titled Fire in the Mountains got selected and premiered in the prestigious World Cinema Dramatic Competition category of the Sundance Film Festival in 2021.
Fire in the Mountains was highly acclaimed internationally for its socially and emotionally evocative portrayal of faith, family, and resilience. It went on to become a festival circuit favorite after screening at 30+ international film festivals and winning several awards. As a result of Fire in the Mountains, Singh was recognized as one of India’s most promising independent filmmakers.
Ajitpal Singh has successfully expanded his repertoire to include work in the OTT platform, with his latest crime thriller series Tabbar being released on SonyLIV in 2021. This highly appreciated family thriller series is based in rural Punjab. Themes of human resilience, morality, and social realities characterize his work through deeply emotional and realistic storytelling. Singh is known for his grounded storytelling style, cinematic visual sense, and strong character arcs.
