Abhinay Deo

Biography:

Abhinay Deo is a leading Indian filmmaker and producer who pioneered the slick westernized style of visual filmmaking in Hindi cinema and television. Son of celebrated veteran actors Ramesh Deo and Seema Deo, Abhinay has directed more than 450 commercials for big companies including Coca-Cola and Nike. He has made his presence felt in the film industry through his directorial debut of feature film “Delhi Belly” (2011).

The bold black comedy became an immediate cult classic and changed the way of storytelling in urban films, winning him Filmfare Award for Best Debut Director. Currently, he lives in Mumbai with his wife Smita Deo, who is a renowned culinary expert, along with his son Yug Deo. His wide-ranging filmography includes feature thrillers such as “Game” (2011), “Force 2” (2016), which is an intense action film, “Blackmail” (2018), and “Savi” (2024), which is a jailbreak thriller.

Additionally, he revolutionized the entertainment sector digitally by directing both the seasons of real-time action series “24: India” featuring Anil Kapoor, and the neo-noir crime thriller series “Brown” starring Karisma Kapoor. Often, he has been confused with actor Abhay Deol on the internet as his shows including “Trial By Fire” or “Breathe” have been wrongly attributed to him.
