Biography:

Senthil, the renowned Indian comedy actor, has left an indelible mark on Tamil cinema, particularly through his iconic comedic collaborations with fellow actor Goundamani. Born on 23 March 1951 in the small village of Ilanjambore near Mudukulathur in Tamil Nadu’s Ramanathapuram District, Senthil’s journey into the world of comedy and entertainment has been both impactful and enduring.

Having married Kalaiselvi on 14 May 1984, Senthil is a family man with two sons, Dr. Manikanda Prabhu and Hemachandra Prabhu. His paternal role extends to two granddaughters born in 2008 and 2014, completing his family circle.

Senthil’s early life took an unconventional turn when he ran away from his village at the tender age of 13, seeking refuge from his father’s scoldings. His diverse work experiences, ranging from an oil mart to a private wine shop as a waiter, ultimately led him to the world of drama, where he began honing his comedic skills.

His cinematic debut occurred with “Oru Koyil Iru Dheepangal” in 1979, though “Ithikkara Pakki” in 1980 marked his official entry into the film industry. Gradually making his mark in Tamil cinema, he secured a notable role in the film “Malayoor Mambattiyan.” Senthil became widely recognized for his slapstick double act alongside Goundamani, forming a comic duo often referred to as the Laurel and Hardy of Tamil Cinema.

In a career spanning several decades, Senthil has graced the screen in numerous popular films alongside leading actors and comedians in the South Indian film industry. His contributions to the entertainment industry also extend to the realm of television, as evidenced by his 2019 debut in the Tamil tele-serial “Rasathi” on Sun TV.

Beyond the world of entertainment, Senthil has ventured into politics. Initially associated with the AIADMK party, he shifted his allegiance to TTV Dinakaran’s Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) political party. In September 2019, Senthil assumed the role of an organizational secretary within the AMMK. His political journey took another turn when he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) just before the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, showcasing his diverse engagement in the public sphere.
