Ram Miriyala is a record producer, music composer, film scorer, promo producer, and songwriter from India.
Ram Miriyala began his career in the corporate sector before exploring Carnatic music for a span of two years. Unfortunately, personal reasons led to his discontinuation of Carnatic music studies. Despite this, he expressed to The New Indian Express that this period deeply ignited his passion for music. Subsequently, Ram joined Radio Mirchi as a promo producer. It was during this time, in 2018, that he and his colleagues founded the music band Chowraasta. The central focus of the band was to infuse Telugu folk songs with reggae elements. Alongside Ram, the band consisted of members like Yashwanth Nag, Bala, Akshay, Anant, and Srinivas.
In 2019, Chowraasta ventured into creating original tracks, such as “Oorellipota Mama” and “Maya”, both of which achieved considerable success. These songs tackled pertinent societal issues, contributing to Ram’s rise in popularity, and earning him the moniker Chowraasta Ram. In a conversation with The News Minute, Ram emphasized their intention to raise questions through their music rather than seeking fame. He noted that they aimed to prompt people to reflect on these issues, portraying it as an ongoing endeavor closely aligned with their values.
Amid the COVID-19 lockdown in India, Ram played a significant role in creating awareness about the disease and preventive measures by singing, composing, and writing the song “Cheyi Cheyi Kalapaku Ra” for the band in the following year. However, Ram departed from the band in 2020.
During the initial phase of the Chowraasta band, Ram’s debut as a playback singer occurred with the song “Vagalaadi” (featured in the movie Brochevarevarura), which was released in April 2019. Reviewing the film’s soundtrack, Neeshita Nyayapati from The Times of India praised the song’s harmonious amalgamation of diverse musical elements, noting the excellence in vocals, melody, lyrics, and music composition.
