Ragul Dharuman

Biography:

Ragul Dharuman was born in the Nilgiris region of Southern India, renowned as the blue mountains due to the bluish smoky haze emitted by its abundant eucalyptus trees. The Nilgiris, a picturesque hill station with verdant mountains and valleys, was his upbringing locale where he commenced his amateur painting during his early years. His affection for painting gradually transformed into a passion for photography, ultimately leading him down the path of becoming a cinematographer.

He pursued his major in cinematography at the prestigious Film Institute of India situated in Adyar, Chennai, which also serves as the breeding ground for some of India’s finest talents behind the camera.

Subsequently, he garnered experience by assisting the renowned Indian cinematographer, Mr. Ravi K Chandran, for several years before embarking on his independent journey in 2013. This period of apprenticeship marked a pivotal phase during which he imbibed a fresh and distinct perspective on perceiving light, acquiring substantial aesthetic wisdom from his mentor.

Dharuman firmly believes that one can truly grasp the core essence of factual knowledge when guided by a seasoned expert in the respective field. Having his mentor’s guidance was indeed a fortunate and invaluable asset.

Currently headquartered in Mumbai, the hub of India’s entertainment industry, Ragul Dharuman is consistently in search of projects that challenge and captivate his creative spirit.

Ragul Dharuman is known for My Name Is Khan (2010), Agneepath (2012) and 7 Aum Arivu (2011).

Recently he captured the film titles as “Gaslight”(2023) which is directed by Pavan Kirpalani and produced by Ramesh S. Taurani, Akshai Puri.
