Gautham Karthik, born on September 12, 1989, is an Indian actor known for his work in Tamil-language films. He made his debut in Mani Ratnam’s “Kadal” in 2013. Gautham is the son of actor Karthik and actress Ragini. After his parents’ separation when he was nine years old, he primarily grew up with his mother in Ooty, with limited visits from his father.
Gautham graduated from Christ University, Bangalore, with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, English & Media. While in college, he showcased his musical talents as a guitarist and vocalist in the band, Dead End Street. Gautham married actress Manjima Mohan, his co-star from “Devarattam,” on November 28, 2022.
His entry into the film industry was anticipated for years, with speculation as early as 2003 about his debut under his father’s direction. However, it was Mani Ratnam who eventually launched him in “Kadal” after completing his bilingual films “Raavan” and “Raavanan.”
Despite mixed reviews for “Kadal,” Gautham’s portrayal of a deprived youngster received praise, establishing him as a promising talent. Subsequent films like “Yennamo Yedho” and “Vai Raja Vai” garnered varying responses, but Gautham’s performances continued to earn critical acclaim.
