Biography:

Born on July 21, 1968, Aditya Srivastava is an Indian actor renowned for his work across Hindi films, television, and theatre. He is most notably recognized for his portrayal of Senior Inspector Abhijeet in the enduring Indian television police procedural series, C.I.D. His acting prowess extends to prominent roles in Bollywood films such as “Satya,” “Gulaal,” “Lakshya,” “Paanch,” “Black Friday,” “Kaalo,” “Super 30,” and “Dil Se Pooch Kidhar Jana Hai.”

Aditya entered an arranged marriage with Manasi Srivastava, a psychologist, in 2003. Their union led to the birth of two daughters, one in 2005 and another in 2007.

During his time at Allahabad University pursuing his graduation, Aditya Srivastava honed his acting skills by participating in theatre plays at Sangeet Samiti, Civil lines, Allahabad. To further refine his craft and chase his acting aspirations, he relocated to Delhi in 1989 and primarily engaged in theatre work at the Sri Ram Center Of Performing Arts.

His break came when he caught the attention of Shekhar Kapoor, leading to his debut in the film “Bandit Queen,” where he played Puttilal. Subsequently, he shifted to Mumbai in 1995.

He lent his voice to various promos and advertisements while also assuming significant episodic roles in shows like “Byomkesh Bakshi,” “Rishtey,” and “Aahat.” Notable projects such as “Naya Daur,” “9 Malabar Hill,” and “Yeh Shaadi Nahi Ho Sakti” showcased him in substantial roles. He temporarily departed from television in 1997 to focus on films.

In 1999, he was approached for the role in C.I.D. after B. P. Singh observed his portrayal of a cop in “Satya,” following Ashutosh Gowariker’s departure to pursue directing. While he had previously depicted a criminal named Paresh in a C.I.D. episode titled “The Case of the Stolen Gun,” he initially accepted a contract for 26 episodes, which was later extended. His debut episode as a cop in C.I.D. was titled “The Case of the Stolen Dynamite.” Today, he stands as one of the show’s mainstays.

On the international stage, Aditya gained recognition for his contributions to films like “Dil Se..,” “Mohandas,” “Dansh,” “Satya,” “Matrubhoomi,” “Black Friday,” and “Gulaal,” all of which garnered acclaim on the international film festival circuit, featuring him as a critically acclaimed parallel lead. His portfolio of films, as cited by critics, effectively showcases his talent, with his preference for non-conventional cinema reflecting his desire to delve deeper into his acting roles.

His recognition in the Guinness Book of World Records comes from his involvement in shooting the longest uncut sequence in the C.I.D. episode “The Inheritance.”
