“The Greatest of All Time (The GOAT)”, starring Thalapathy Vijay, was released in theaters on September 5th, 2024, and later on Netflix.
Directed by Venkat Prabhu, the film faced comparisons to “Rajadurai” (1993), a movie featuring the late Vijaykanth and directed by S.A. Chandrasekhar.
In response, Venkat Prabhu addressed the issue at a public event, stating that he was unaware of the similarities while creating “The GOAT”.
He explained that he hadn’t seen “Rajadurai” before, so he didn’t realize the stories were alike. He also added that father-son stories are quite universal.
People online have mixed reactions to his statement.
