Starting with 2, but blowing beyond proportions

Director SS Rajamouli first started the trend of announcing two possible release dates for his film RRR – March 28th and April 18th – so that the film could be released on one date or another, according to the situation. Then, many other films followed suit, by announcing two release dates, but now, things seem to be reaching a new level.

Natural Star Nani recently announced 7 potential dates for the release of his upcoming film, Ante Sundaraniki. These dates include 22nd, 29th April and 6th, 20th, 27th May, or June 10th, making it too many dates for any film. While it was interesting when 2 dates were announced for a film’s release, initially, it now seems to be getting beyond the limit, with as many as 7 release dates.

Eyeing a single release date is itself causing a lot of confusion as there are many films ready for release, and now, announcing more than one potential release date is making a bigger fuss. Filmmakers seem to be trolling themselves this way, more than trying to be safe.
